About the Malaysian Palm Oil Board
The national agency entrusted with the stewardship of Malaysia's palm oil industry.
The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) is a premier government agency responsible for overseeing the national palm oil industry. Its mandate is to ensure the industry develops in a sustainable and competitive manner while continuing to deliver economic benefit to the nation.
Establishment & Background
MPOB was established on 1 May 2000 pursuant to an Act of Parliament, Act 582 (Malaysian Palm Oil Board Act 1998). The Board took over, through a merger, the functions of the Palm Oil Research Institute of Malaysia (PORIM) and the Palm Oil Registration and Licensing Authority (PORLA), each of which had served the industry for more than two decades.
The merger streamlined services to the industry, improved the effectiveness of management, and strengthened the focus on developing the industry both nationally and internationally.
